You all should know by now how I feel about food events, my excitement could not be contained when the invitation for the launch of GCG Events was handed to me,”…Glad bag buss…”The venue had a rustic, chic feel with low-lights for the mood. Where you might ask, UWI Mona Visitors’ Lodge and Conference Centre, which has an elegant interior for weddings, banquets, formal dining and other special receptions in the Blue Reception and Gold Banqueting Halls, Old Still House Ruins and Gardens, the event itself was held in the “The Ruins”.
Let me get to the ‘meat of the matter’ the food! The food was spectacular, mouth-watering, finger-licking, go back again kind of awesome There were four stations laden with various choices.
Station one had different types of soups, and the red peas soup was creamy and flavorful. The peas and beef just melted in your mouth and left a hint of coconut, yummy!
Station #2 had beef and pork of varying temperatures, the skilled servers sliced each piece to perfection and served with a sweet mango or chocolate sauce. I visited this station way too often for the night.
Station #3 was my fave, with a soft tortilla custom-made pizza. some ingredients included mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, smoked salmon, peppers, parsley and served with a chocolate sauce, okay so I went back a few times here too. The server knew me by name, he has one daughter and is very close to his mum, who he has dinner with once a week….that’s how often I visited his station.
Station #4 closed with potato pudding served on bamboo.
I have been to other events from GCG Events and they are professional, their food is good and their customer service is above reproach. There contact details are in the flyer below
