Merry Merry Christmas people and a prosperous New Year. We are Jamaicans living in the British Virgin Islands so Christmas for us is a little different our Curry Mutton is replaced by Ham and our baked chicken by turkey and so forth but of course we can’t leave out our Sorrel and our Fruit cake or Black cake like it’s called in the Eastern Caribbean.

Dear My little Princess – 22 weeks

My 30th Birthday Hey my baby It’s been 22 weeks and counting since you have been growing in mommy’s tummy, and I am beginning to feel your strong Kicks! We found out 2 weeks ago that you will be a girl, I am over the moon to know this and so is daddy. Your sister doesn’t quite understand what’s going on yet but she kisses my tummy often lol which I quite enjoy.  I feel better these days more energy and I can eat pretty much anything I desire now, I have quite a fondness for Mangoes, any and every type. Hubby’s little photo shoot Next week mommy will start shopping for you that makes me so delighted, and it would seem you too as I just felt a couple of responding kicks lol. Moon Glow kissing ma big belly Now, what so we name you, your daddy wants first preference so if you don’t like your name it’s his fault. We know we want an S like your sister Suhri’Sana’a and we want something just as unique….. Hmmm what to choose. See you soon my love  Mommy, Daddy and Moon Belly Pic 22 weeks and counting I had some cookies and it ended up on my belly and Lap

Dear Fetus….Week 15

I have to compare this pregnancy to the last, as for the last it was if I was just putting on weight and my weight kick me every now and again, This pregnancy is oh so different. But what still remain the same is the STUPID things that people say to me. I must first talk about the crazy cravings that had me stealing green Mangoes yesterday. Long story short, went to buy diapers for Moon and saw the mango trees, first we were scouting and hubby didn’t want to take any but me and ma big belly self thought I was above the law. I got 4 half ripe mangoes which I plan to use to make “pepper pot” (mango, salt and lots of pepper). Which leads me to what happen this week. If you follow me on twitter or facebook you will see a post I had written some days ago, and I quote “Me have one piece of advice to people who don’t know nutn bout nutn….. eating pepper or spices when one is pregnant does not make the child a) blind or b) burn of his/her eyelashes and eyebrows or whatever other STUUPID crap u have to tell me, the baby is in the womb surrounded by protective membranes and takes #NUTRIENTS from me, the mommy, the baby in ma womb don’t get bits and pieces of the saltfish run-down and white flour dumpling that me eat…So please refrain from #harassing me with #stupidness!!” So there […]

Movie Pick of the Week – The Impossible

This movies was released in 2012, so its a definate DVD night with the buttered popcorn kind of night. This movie made me anxious, happy, bawling all at the same time, but then these days I bawl for everything #pregnancyharmones The story of a tourist family in Thailand caught in the destruction and chaotic aftermath of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and I must say “The Impossible” really happened. I can remember hubby asking me if I really believe people just fall in their bath tub and die, after all this woman went through.Even though I laughed it brought back an old country saying my mon always said; “If yuh bawn fi drown yuh cya heng” Which translate if your destined to die one way, example drown, you wont die any other way but to drown. Survivors … Maria Alvarez with husband Quique and sons Lucas, Simon and Tomas  http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/woman/real_life/4727569/boxing-day-tsunami-maria-alvarez-the-impossible.html#ixzz2SpJcNAcr  The Impossible stars, Naomi Watts, Ewan McGregor,  and Tom Holland

Movie Pick of the Week : Oblivion

My Movie Pick of this weeks is the futuristic film Oblivion, starring: Tom Cruise Olga Kurylenko Morgan Freeman Andrea Riseborough Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Melissa Leo  So pretty much In the year 2077, Tech 49 Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) is one of the last drone repairmen stationed on Earth, which was nearly destroyed 60 years ago due to the destruction of Earth’s moon and an invasion by aliens known as Scavs. Jack and his romantic partner Victoria (Andrea Riseborough) work as a team to secure and send Earth’s remaining resources to a massive tetrahedral space station  – called the Tet – that was humanity’s escape vessel, which I must say is quite futuristic. Their mission control commander is Sally, weirdo, who guides them through Jack’s recon and repair trips. The two expect to leave Earth and join the other survivors at a colony on Titan in two weeks. Now if you ever watch Vanilla Sky or Eyes Wide Shut with Tom, this movies has this, “what the hell did I just see there” kinda appeal. Its quite interesting and has quite a spin. For me it could be a little bit more action packed but the story line was one of love and sacrifice, like all good movies are made of. I made this a girls night out movie but to me its more a date night movie flick.  Take a looksee and hit me up on twitter @ethniciceta and let me know what you think. If you have any Movie suggestions […]

Whirl and Twirl with Kadie Kade

I met this cute girl one day when I went to her office, and of course the first thing I saw was how she punk rock’d her Teeny Weeny Afro. So naturally I had to ask her to be in my Whirl and twirl posts. Say heya to Kadie Kade Curlies   1. Please tell us little about you? Hi I’m Kadia but everyone knows me by Kadie Kade. I’m a young natural hair black woman who just loves being natural. In 2009 I did my first perm for boredom sakes and said I would return to my roots after I get “fedup” which I did. Now my hair is back and thicker than ever. I’m a local model in photography and runway while being a part time student @ HLSCC and working full time at Trident Trust. I love being natural in all aspects of life because it’s healthier and cheaper. Majority of what I use in my hair can be used with other things in my daily livings. It’s AWESOME!2. Why did you decide to go natural and how did you make the change? I decided to go back natural because I never had any intentions of keeping a perm in my hair past 3 years. I was more or less experimenting with the perm… I grew to like it then but eventually hated it. 3. What is your current hair routine? And if you don’t have time to do a full style what is your quick fix […]
